“Upcycling deserves a chance
The discussion with my friend was not the first of its kind. I have received similar “reproaches” ever since I participated with PIMP the GARBAGE in a business acceleration program organized by Impact Hub in 2014. This is why I decided to talk to some of the Romanians who repurpose waste in unconventional ways, to find out who they are and what they aim for.
In the next two episodes of the Green Report series “UPCYCLING in ROMANIA,” we will “meet” the initiators of upcycling projects such as Reciclare Creativă, Upside Down, remesh, Turific, Wood be nice, QUIB, Tubatect, and PinkLime. Then, we will compare what Romanians are doing with the activities of designers from Berlin, Zurich, or London (Upcycling Deluxe, Bolsos Berlin, El Reinventor, Freitag, and Upcyclist).
Three more episodes will follow, in which we will learn from the project initiators how they procure and manage their materials, how they manage to sell their products, and what they hope to achieve through their projects.”
